The Outsiders is a coming-of-age novel based in 1965 by S. E. Hinton, first published in 1967 by Viking Press. Hinton was 15 when she started writing the novel, and 18 when it was published. The book follows two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs (pronounced by the author as "so-shez", short for Socials), who are divided by their socioeconomic status.
A film adaptation was produced in 1983.
Ponyboy Curtis and his brothers, Soda and Darry, belong to a gang of lower-class youth called the Greasers in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965. They often fight with the Socs, a group of wealthy, privileged boys. Ponyboy is a shy, quiet 14-year-old boy who gets good grades and likes to draw and read. Sodapop, the middle brother, is handsome and gets along well with the other Greasers. Darry, the oldest brother, has been caring for his brothers since their parents died in a car crash. He is very serious, works most of the time, and often yells at Ponyboy. Darry is athletic and was a good student, but he had to give up his education to care for his brothers so that they wouldn't have to separate and go to an orphanage. Dallas (Dally) Winston is the roughest of the Greasers, having lived on the streets of New York City for three years. He seems to enjoy being a criminal and thinks that the law is a big joke. Two other Greasers are Two-Bit Mathews, who has a prodigious sense of humor, and Steve Randle, Sodapop's best friend. Finally, Johnny, the pet of the Greasers and 16 years old, is Ponyboy's closest friend and lives with his alcoholic and abusive mother and father. Johnny was jumped and beat up by a Soc wearing heavy rings. Ever since then, Johnny has been paranoid about the Socs and always carries a switchblade.

Catching Fire is the second book Click Here To Read Book Online Free!

Catching Fire is the second book in The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. As the sequel to the 2008 bestseller The Hunger Games, it continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and the fictional, futuristic nation of Panem.
Catching Fire takes place in a fictional country called Panem which is located in present day North America. The Capitol is located somewhere in the "Rockies," probably referring to the Rocky Mountains of the western United States. District 12, Katniss' home district is located in the coal-rich region called "Appalachia," also probably referring to the Appalachian Mountains in the eastern United States. There are a total of 12 Districts, but there once was a 13th which was destroyed in the rebellion. The Hunger Games takes place in a stadium specially built for the event, but is never specified where.

A Clockwork Orange is a 1962 dystopian novella by Anthony Burgess. Burgess gave three explanations for the origins of the title. In a prefatory note to A Clockwork Orange: A Play with Music, Anthony Burgess wrote that the title was a metaphor for "...an organic entity, full of juice and sweetness and agreeable odour, being turned into an automaton." In his essay, "Clockwork Oranges", Anthony Burgess asserts that "this title would be appropriate for a story about the application of Pavlovian or mechanical laws to an organism which, like a fruit, was capable of colour and sweetness". The title A Clockwork Orange alludes to the protagonist's positively conditioned responses to feelings of evil which prevent the exercise of his free will. To reverse this conditioning, the protagonist is subjected to a technique in which his emotional responses to violence are systematically paired with a negative stimulation in the form of nausea caused by an emetic medicine administered just before the presentation of films depicting violent, and "ultra-violent" situations. Written from the perspective of a seemingly unapologetic protagonist, the novel A Clockwork Orange also contains an experiment in language: Burgess creates teenage slang of the not-too-distant future.

Ch-1: A horrified Scream. ( Free Novels - Aghast ) by http://read-book-online-free.blogspot.com

It was a dark, gloomy night and raining ferociously. In the evening air, the sound of cricket's chirping was the only noise to be heard. On one huge tree near the bungalow, an owl, soaked in the rain water, sat still. Its penetrating flitting eyes moved around and settled on a window through which light was coming out. It was the only window of the bungalow which was illuminated with the rest of the lights ceasing to be on. Suddenly a group of pigeons sat at the window for some shelter before flying off in a hurry, fluttering their wings in fear.  They may have sensed the presence of some invisible being there. Since the window glasses were opaque, coloured white, the interior of the room was not visible.
